Mercury Cazimi in Scorpio: What Can You Test?

▶ Press play above to hear the full episode. Let's ride.
When Mercury stationed retrograde, I gave every date a question. November 4th got this one:
What can I test?
Today's the day. Mercury, walking backward, meets the Sun at 12° Scorpio. The cazimi. The heart of the Sun.
The Private Meeting
Friday, the soldier faced the general. Mars looked down from Leo, holding the king's keys, and demanded an answer. Conscience, or cowardice?
But we said the soldier had something the general didn't. The king's ear. And he was on his way to a private meeting.
Today's the meeting.
When a planet gets close to the Sun, it gets burned. Combust. Weak. Hidden. But when it gets all the way into the heart of the Sun, the rules flip. It's not burned anymore. It's sitting in the king's lap. Not hidden from the king. Received by him. Purified. Empowered. The messenger has an audience, and the chance to speak directly.
No general. No judge. No crowd. Just the messenger and the king, alone in the room.
Whatever story you've been telling, about why you left, about what they meant, about what you want, it gets held up to the light. The full light. And in the heart of the Sun, the static clears.
The Night Before
Before the meeting, somebody helps the messenger get ready.
The Moon is still moving through Virgo. Mercury's sign. Mercury's house. And in the middle of the night, before the cazimi, she sextiles Mercury. Earth to water.
And she's not coming empty-handed. Yesterday, she squared Uranus, retrograde in Gemini. Also Mercury's sign. The jolt. The restless morning. The urge to throw the whole box out and start over.
She carries that into the sextile.
In the old astrology, that's called translation of light. The Moon leaves one planet and carries its light to the next. So whatever woke you up yesterday, the sudden realization, the "I can't keep doing it this way," the Moon picks it up and delivers it straight to the messenger.
And look at it. Uranus in Mercury's sign. The Moon in Mercury's sign. Mercury on his own ground in Scorpio. The messenger's name is on every door tonight.
So the Moon is a guest in Mercury's house, and she reaches out to her host right before his big meeting. First she sextiles the Sun. Then, a little later, the messenger sitting right next to him. And because she's in his sign, he receives her. He takes what she brings.
That's Virgo work. Sorting the notes. Putting the feelings in order. Separating what happened from what you made it mean. She organizes the file so the messenger walks in prepared.
And it happens in the middle of the night. Dream time. That 3 a.m. thought that won't let you go back to sleep. The thing you suddenly understand while the house is quiet.
Keep a notebook by the bed tonight. Keep the dream journal going. If something comes through while you're half asleep, write it down. That might be what you carry into the meeting.
On His Own Ground
Look where this happens. 12° Scorpio is Mercury's own bounds. The one stretch of Scorpio that belongs to him.
He's been a guest in the general's house this whole retrograde. No dignity of his own by sign. But the moment he walks into the heart of the king, he's standing on his own ground.
So the messenger doesn't show up to this meeting borrowed. He shows up as himself. He gets to speak in his own voice.
New to bounds?
In the Room Where the Past Hands You Something
And look at the room. The Sun is moving through the second decan of Scorpio, his own decan, the one tied to the Six of Cups.
The kids in the yard. The cup of daffodils. The man with the walking stick coming home.
So Mercury, walking backward, walks right back into the yard. The messenger reviewing the past meets the king in the room where the past hands you something back.
That's a powerful combination. The old idea. The project you put down. The thing you used to do. The conversation you never finished. It could come back today. But not as a memory. As a prototype.
More on this decan: The Six of Cups: What the Past Hands You.
An Inventor Experimenting
The Sabian symbol for the 13th degree of Scorpio: "An inventor experimenting."
The message gets reborn. Not as a revelation handed down from the clouds. As an experiment you have to run.
That matters. A lot of people wait for the cazimi like it's a lightning bolt. Some big download. The answer to everything.
That's not how inventors work. Inventors build it. Test it. It breaks. Build it again. They learn more from what failed than from what they imagined.
So don't wait for the answer to arrive. Run the test.
On the station, I gave you homework. November 4th, run an experiment. This is it.
Not your whole life. One experiment.
An old creative idea? Try it in a different format.
An unfinished conversation? Ask the question you avoided.
An old assumption? Look for the evidence that could prove it, or prove it wrong.
Then write down what happened. What was actually said. What meaning you gave it. How you responded. Same three questions. That's the lab notebook.
That's how you find out the difference between what you know and what you want. You test it.
Evening Star to Morning Star
And something changes in Mercury today.
All retrograde, he's been the evening star. Setting after the Sun. Working in the dark. Reviewing. Digging. Second-guessing.
He goes into the heart of the Sun one way. And over the days and weeks that follow, he comes out the other side as the morning star. Rising before the king. The cazimi is the turn. The rising takes a little time.
Venus went first. Last month she went into the heart of the Sun, burned off her karma, and came out the morning star. Venus reset what you value.
Now it's the messenger's turn. Mercury resets the story you tell about it.
The Two Benefics Are Still at the Table
And while all of this is happening, Venus and Jupiter's sextile goes exact. Same day as the cazimi. Before dawn, the two benefics sit all the way down at the table. After that, they start to separate, but the influence lingers. The window stays open until about November 11th.
So the luck hasn't gone anywhere. The knock is still at the door.
And here's how today fits. The sextile says lucky times are possible. But you can't hit the lottery if you don't buy a ticket.
The experiment is the ticket.
Venus asks what still has value. Jupiter asks what you could grow from it. And today Mercury comes out of the heart of the Sun and says, "All right. Let's test it."
Venus names the value. Jupiter sees the possibility. Mercury runs the test. Three stories, one day.
Clean, Not Finished
One caution. A cazimi is a reset, not a finish line.
Mercury is still retrograde. He doesn't turn direct until Friday, November 13th. And he doesn't clear the shadow until the end of the month.
So you may get clarity today. A new way of seeing it. A cleaner story. But give it room to prove itself. That's what experiments are for.
A clean idea still has to survive real life.
Run the Test
So ask yourself:
What story did I take into the heart of the Sun, and what came out?
Was it intuition talking, or suspicion? And now that the static's cleared, which one was it?
What old idea is coming back to me as a prototype?
What's one experiment I can run this week?
What ticket am I willing to buy?
The soldier met the king. The messenger stood on his own ground. The past handed him something back.
Now build it. Test it. And if it breaks, build it again.
